Commercial Landscape Maintenance in the Bay Area
Year-round care for plants, turf, irrigation and soil from a C-27 licensed team with more than 30 years on Bay Area properties. Our crews document issues as they find them, and quarterly site inspections keep small problems from becoming expensive ones.
What We Maintain
Six Services, One Accountable Team
Every program is built around your site. Here is what each part of it does for your property.
Plant Health and Appearance
Bed care, detailing, litter removal and seasonal color for entries, walkways and common areas.
Why it matters: First impressions shape how tenants, visitors and the public see your property.
Your benefit: A property that looks cared for every day, not just after a cleanup.
Irrigation and Water Management
Zone checks during scheduled visits, seasonal controller adjustments and repairs to leaks, breaks and overspray.
Why it matters: A single broken head can waste thousands of gallons before anyone notices.
Your benefit: Healthier plants and lower water bills. More on irrigation
Natural Pruning and Shrub Care
Selective pruning to each plant's natural form, timed to the species, including trees up to 15 feet under our C-27 license.
Why it matters: Repeated shearing forces dense regrowth that has to be cut again and again.
Your benefit: Better-looking plants, fewer corrective cuts and less green waste.
Weed Control and Integrated Pest Management
Monitoring, hand removal and mulch first, with targeted treatment only when field conditions require it, applied under a Qualified Applicator License.
Why it matters: Treating the cause, such as overwatering or a stressed plant, prevents repeat problems.
Your benefit: Fewer weeds, fewer chemicals and fewer recurring infestations. How it works
Soil Health and Natural Fertility
Compost, mulch and natural feeding that build living soil and keep weeds down, instead of routine synthetic fertilizers.
Why it matters: Healthy soil holds water, feeds roots and resists erosion.
Your benefit: Plants that need less water, less feeding and less weeding over time.
Turf Care
Mowing, edging, topdressing and overseeding for turf that people use, plus a plan for turf that no one does.
Why it matters: AB 1572 ends potable water on nonfunctional turf in 2027 for public agencies and 2028 for commercial properties.
Your benefit: Healthy turf where it counts and a clear path for the rest. Turf conversion
Our Approach
Better Landscapes Start With Better Maintenance
Every Rubicon program follows the same five practices, guided by ReScape California principles, with ReScape Qualified Professionals on staff since 2008. Together they keep landscapes healthy while cutting avoidable water, chemicals and waste.
Prune for Plant Health
Natural form instead of repeated shearing.
Feed the Soil
Compost and mulch instead of synthetic fertilizers.
Water With Purpose
Schedules matched to plants, season and site.
Manage Pests Responsibly
Find the cause, and treat only when needed.
Recycle Green Waste
100% of green waste from client sites recycled.

Weed Control and IPM
Weed and Pest Control, Done the Licensed Way
Weeds and pests are usually a symptom. We find the cause, such as bare soil, overwatering or a stressed plant, and fix it first. When treatment is needed, it is targeted and applied by staff holding a California Qualified Applicator License, with our Integrated Pest Management program overseen by a QAL-licensed account manager.
- Monitoring and identification during scheduled visits
- Hand and mechanical removal before any treatment
- Mulch and ground cover that shade out weeds
- Root-cause fixes for irrigation, drainage and plant choice
- Targeted, licensed treatment only when field conditions require it
Specialized Areas
Complex Sites, Handled With Care
Commercial and public properties include far more than lawns and shrub beds. Our crews maintain the areas that call for specialized knowledge, under the same program and the same account manager.
- Rooftop and courtyard gardens, podium decks and raised planters
- Bioswales and stormwater planting areas
- Slopes and erosion-prone banks
- Medians, streetscapes and parking lot islands
- Natural areas and native plantings

Landscape Maintenance FAQ
How Often Does Rubicon Visit and Inspect a Property?
Crews visit on a schedule set to each property's needs and document issues as they find them. Senior leadership performs quarterly site inspections to review overall site conditions.
What Happens When a Problem Is Found?
Problems are scheduled for repair promptly and followed up by the account manager or site supervisor. Repeat issues go through a corrective action review, so we fix the cause, not the symptom.
Do You Use Synthetic Fertilizers?
Our programs feed the soil with compost, mulch and natural fertility instead of routine synthetic fertilizers. Healthy soil holds water, feeds roots and reduces weeds.
Can You Maintain Rooftop Gardens, Courtyards and Bioswales?
Yes. Our crews maintain rooftop and courtyard gardens, podium decks, raised planters, bioswales, slopes, medians and natural areas as part of a maintenance program.
Is Rubicon Licensed and Insured?
Yes. Rubicon holds California C-27 landscape contractor licenses 1044063, 750715 and 633002, carries general liability, umbrella and workers' compensation coverage, and provides a certificate of insurance on request.
How Does Rubicon Manage Weeds and Pests?
We use Integrated Pest Management: routine monitoring, mechanical removal and mulching first, with targeted treatment only when field conditions require it, applied under a Qualified Applicator License.
Do You Offer One-Time Weed Abatement?
Yes. Along with routine weed control in our maintenance programs, we offer one-time cleanups and weed abatement for overgrown beds, lots and slopes, with targeted treatment applied under a Qualified Applicator License only when needed.
